Forro at the Wha?
Flirty clothes, entertaining friends and refreshing Caipirinhas are the perfect accessories to the Brazilian flair of Monday nights at the Cafe Wha? A night out with Forro at the Wha? is the only energy shot needed to start your week.
What is “forro” you ask? Simply put, it’s an all out, good time Brazilian dance party! Orginated in northeastern Brazil in the mid-1900’s, it was originally a mispronunciation of the English word “For All” and was meant to describe the inclusive nature of the Brazilian party.
We can’t wait to have some of Brazil’s finest forro musicians join us every Monday to lay down some of the hottest Brazilian forro grooves found in North America. If you’ve never been to a Forro party, or you’re a forro expert, join us at Cafe Wha? on Mondays at 9:30 pm. “For All!”
The beauty of Monday nights doesn't only radiate from the stage, but it's also about the people. The aisles of the Cafe Wha? are quick to fill with dance. Cocktails in hand, the crowd manages to samba with the flash and flair of a Rio Carnival celebration without ever spilling a drop. Time steps, swing and fancy foot work are natural reactions to Forro's positive vibes and musical chemistry.
